Upgrade Your Kitchen On A Budget

Kitchen renovations can cost tens of thousands of dollars, but there are many ways to do a partial upgrade on a budget.  If your cabinets are good structurally, you can upgrade your kitchen with some inexpensive paint and hardware.

Painting your cabinets makes a big difference in the look of the room without spending a lot of money.  You can also replace the cabinet doors to update the look and save a lot of money versus replacing all the cabinets.

Adding new hardware to your cabinets, even if you don’t paint them, gives the room an instant facelift.  Replacing the hardware is relatively simple to do.

If the color of the room is dated, paint all the walls.  Consider adding an accent wall in a bright color or adding wallpaper on a wall that is not near your cooking area.

Replace the backsplash to give the room a new look.  There are many types of materials you can use, and most are easy to install.  Tile is a popular choice, but metal is becoming more popular because it is easy to clean.  You can also add a textured wallpaper, but it will not last as long as tile or metal.

If your cabinets look good, consider replacing the counter top.  Depending on your budget, you can add a stone or granite counter top.

Replace your existing light fixtures with new ones to create a new atmosphere in the room.  You can add lighting above the table or bar to make the space more functional for your family.

Consider adding open shelves to your kitchen.  They are easier to install than traditional cabinets, and they allow you to display your bowls and bake ware collections, so it serves as decoration as well as gives you extra storage space.
